General Estimator

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented General Estimator to join our construction team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the cost estimation process for commercial and residental construction projects, ensuring accurate budgeting, pricing, and material requirements. Your expertise will help drive successful project outcomes by providing precise estimates that align with client expectations and project specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects within the construction industry, utilizing your skills in blueprint reading, cost management, and software tools to deliver exceptional results.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to accurately estimate project costs
• Develop detailed estimates for commercial construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
• Utilize estimating software such as JobTreads and other construction management tools to prepare comprehensive bids
• Manage project budgets by monitoring costs throughout the bidding process and during project execution
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and suppliers through effective negotiation to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms
• Conduct material cost estimating from blueprints and technical drawings to determine quantities and requirements
• Assist in reviewing contracts and ensuring all estimates align with contractual obligations and project scope

Skills

• Proficiency in estimating software such as JobTreads, Bluebeam, Xactimate, and other construction estimating tools
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
• Excellent negotiation skills for securing optimal pricing with vendors and subcontractors
• Experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction sector
• Knowledge of construction management software and Microsoft Office suite for documentation and reporting
• Deep understanding of cost control principles, material requirements estimation, and budget management
• Ability to review construction drawings thoroughly and interpret technical details accurately
• Construction site experience to better understand on-the-ground realities impacting estimates
• Familiarity with contracts, bid preparation processes, and client communication strategies
• At minimum at least 5+ years of experience

Pay: From $74,902.04 per year
