General Labourer

About Us

OCB Building Services Ltd is a growing building company covering East Sussex and the surrounding areas. We specialise in kitchen and bathroom refurbishments and whole home renovations, and we're currently branching out into extensions and garage conversions. We're a genuine "all trades" company, carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating and electrics are all handled in-house, which means our labourers get exposure to every stage of a project, not just one corner of it.

About the Role

We're looking for a motivated General Labourer to join our team and support our tradesmen across a variety of kitchen, bathroom, renovation, and (soon) extension and garage conversion projects. This isn't a one trade role, it's hands-on support inside live building projects, working alongside skilled tradespeople every day.

We want someone who has some experience in the construction industry, ideally around similar types of projects, and who is enthusiastic, driven, and genuinely wants to build a long-term career in the building trade. You'll be given clear daily tasks and responsibilities, and the chance to learn directly from experienced tradesmen across multiple disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting our tradesmen (carpenters, plumbers, electricians, plasterers, tilers and decorators) with their day-to-day tasks on site
• Keeping the work site clean and tidy throughout each day
• Cleaning down and looking after tools and equipment
• Loading, unloading and moving materials around site
• Helping prepare areas ahead of trades starting work (e.g. protecting floors/surfaces, clearing space)
• Assisting with waste removal and general site clearance
• Upholding health and safety standards at all times
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of each project

What We're Looking For

• Some previous experience in construction, ideally on renovation, refurbishment, kitchen or bathroom projects
• An enthusiastic, driven and motivated attitude, with a genuine ambition to build a career in the building industry
• Willingness to learn from and support tradespeople across multiple trades
• Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and working on your feet
• A team player who takes pride in their work
• Own transport, as you'll be travelling to different sites across our coverage area

What We Offer

• Variety — no two days are the same, working across kitchens, bathrooms, full renovations and (increasingly) extensions and garage conversions
• Hands-on exposure to every trade under one roof — carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating and electrics
• The chance to genuinely progress within the business as you gain experience
• A supportive, close-knit team environment
• Steady work across a well-established local area (Hastings, St Leonards, Bexhill, Eastbourne, Robertsbridge, Hawkhurst, Uckfield and Battle)
