General Labourer

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and dependable General Labourer to join our team for a fixed-term contract (3 months). In this position you will be working directly with our Lead Technician on various projects including access control, security systems, video surveillance, and facility inspections. You must be able to get to our office in Fergus and be comfortable with large dogs.

Duties

• Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing materials and equipment on-site.
• Prepare work areas by cleaning, clearing debris, and setting up necessary tools and supplies.
• Support skilled tradespeople by handing tools, holding materials, or performing basic tasks as directed.
• Assist with running cabling/wiring in residential, commercial and industrial settings.
• Operate basic tools or equipment under supervision, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
• Follow safety guidelines diligently to maintain a secure working environment for all team members.
• Perform general site maintenance including trash removal and general housekeeping.
• Help with inventory management by tracking supplies and reporting shortages or damages.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Good communication skills to understand directions and collaborate with team members.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities or tasks throughout the workday.
• Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in construction or maintenance environments (asset).
• Working at Heights and/or Elevated Work Platform training (asset but will train).

Minimum Qualifications

• Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid G driver's license.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• 1+ year working experience.

Work Conditions & Requirements:

• Hot, cold, dirty, dusty, noisy environments both indoors and outdoors.
• Ladder and/or platform work.
• Use/wear and maintain PPE in accordance with company policy and manufacturer requirements.
• CSA green tag steel toe footwear is required.
• Use of hand tools and power tools, performing tasks that require fine motor skills.
• Be comfortable with pets in residential and some office environments.
• Stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Ability to bend, kneel, and reach in various positions.
