About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking and professional General Labourer to join our team, working within a busy hospital environment. The successful candidate will assist with general labouring duties, site preparation, material handling and maintaining a clean, safe and organised working area.

The role will involve working alongside contractors and other site personnel to ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to hospital operations, patients, visitors and healthcare staff.

Please note: The role may require evening, night and weekend working to accommodate hospital operational requirements and scheduled works but overtime will reflect accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general labouring duties as directed by the site supervisor or management team.
• Assist tradespeople and contractors with day-to-day site activities.
• Move, load and unload materials, tools and equipment safely.
• Maintain clean, tidy and safe working areas throughout the duration of the works.
• Assist with site preparation, protection of existing surfaces and general housekeeping.
• Remove waste and building materials in accordance with site procedures.
• Follow all site-specific health and safety procedures, including Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
• Work in accordance with hospital infection prevention and control requirements.
• Ensure patients, staff and visitors are not unnecessarily disrupted by construction or maintenance activities.
• Comply with hospital access procedures, security requirements and site instructions.
• Attend site briefings and follow instructions from supervisors and authorised personnel.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience in a general labouring or construction environment is desirable.
• A strong work ethic and a positive, professional attitude.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A good understanding of health and safety practices.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
• Reliable timekeeping and attendance.
• Willingness and flexibility to work nights, weekends and occasional out-of-hours shifts.
• Ability to work respectfully and professionally within a live hospital environment.

Desirable Qualifications

• Valid CSCS card.
• Previous experience working on hospital, healthcare or other occupied sites.
