General Labourer - Mechanical Support

Job Summary

B&D Manufacturing Ltd. has been a leader in the mining manufacturing industry for over 40 years and is looking for a General Labourer – Mechanical Support to contribute to the continued track record of success. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual that lives and breathes our core values of Safety, Innovation, Integrity, and Quality. Reporting to the department Supervisor, this General Labourer is mechanically inclined and able to support our millwright team in building maintenance, equipment upkeep, and assembly of our OEM products across our manufacturing operations.

Duties

• Support preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment
• Assist millwrights with equipment installation, assembly, and disassembly
• Assist with building maintenance (repairs, upkeep, general facility support)
• Clean and/ or acid wash parts, prepare parts for next operation, deburr, polish, paint, sandblast, package products prior to final assembly or delivery
• May operate saw, drill press, shear and brake press
• May do some welding of standard products
• Load and unload materials, parts, or products onto or from pallets, skids, or trucks manually or using fork truck or hoist
• Deliver parts or stock to designated work areas using fork truck, hoist, or pallet mover
• Clean shop work area.
• Separate metal shavings, chips, and scrap materials in bins for recycling.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required
• Mechanical skills - Class A Mechanic Certification is considered an asset
• Experience working in an ISO quality environment is preferred
• Must be capable of following instructions
• Must be familiar with measuring tools and safe operation of tools
• Must have good housekeeping skills
• A valid drivers’ license is recommended
• Possess basic knowledge in print reading
• Must have basic knowledge of different materials
• Must be able to effectively communicate and problem solve within a team environment
• Must be capable of working effectively with limited supervision but with controlled guidance
• Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and maintain a strong commitment to the B&D Manufacturing Safety Program at all times

Schedule

• Day Shift: Monday to Friday 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• Afternoon Shift: Monday to Thursday 3:00 p.m. – 1:30 a.m.
• This position may be subject to rotating shift schedule

Additional Information:

• Wage Scale: $23.92 - $32.25
• Wage determined based on skills and experience
• This is a newly created position
