General ledger Accountant

About the role

A General Ledger (GL) Accountant maintains a company's financial records by managing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and supporting month-end/year-end closing processes. They ensure compliance with PFRS, analyze financial data for accuracy, and assist in preparing financial statements. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, record, and post daily, monthly, and adjusting journal entries (accruals, deferrals, depreciation)
• Perform regular reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and intercompany accounts and transactions
• Review sub-ledgers (AP, AR, Fixed Assets) and ensure proper integration with GL
• Ensure trial balance integrity and investigate discrepancies
• Execute closing procedures for month-end/quarter-end/year-end, ensuring all financial data is accurate and finalized within deadlines
• Prepare, analyze, and verify financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement) to support management decisions
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing schedules, documentation, and explanations for account balances
• Maintain proper accounting documentation and audit trail
• Ensure all transactions and records comply with PFRS (Philippine Financial Reporting Standards) and company policies

About you

• Bachelor's degree in accountancy
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
• Minimum 3 years' experience in accounting, with a focus on general ledger, creation of financial statements, reconciliation, and closing processes
• Full set accounting experience advantageous
• Proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP S/4 Hana, QuickBooks)
