General Maintenance Operative - Site Based

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on General Maintenance Operative to join our on-site maintenance team at Fosse Park Shopping Centre in Leicester. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, general repairs and minor installations, helping to keep the site safe, well maintained and running smoothly.

The role will include:

• Carrying out routine repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Diagnosing and resolving minor building defects and repairing doors, locks, fixtures and woodwork.
• Completing basic plumbing repairs, including taps, pipework, sinks, toilets and waste systems.
• Dealing with minor drain and waste blockages.
• Undertaking basic electrical accessory tasks only where competent and permitted to do so.
• Responding to maintenance requests, completing checks and keeping work areas clean and safe.
• Communicating professionally with site management, customers, colleagues and contractors.

About You

You will be practical, reliable and take pride in the standard of your work. You should have:

• Previous experience in property maintenance, handyman work or a similar role.
• A good range of hands-on maintenance skills across more than one trade.
• Basic plumbing and general building repair skills.
• The ability to work independently, use your initiative and manage your workload.
• Good communication skills and a helpful, customer-focused approach.
• A strong awareness of health and safety.
• You do not necessarily need a formal trade qualification, but you will need a good range of practical skills. You will be expected to provide your own basic hand tools; PPE will be supplied.
