General Maintenance Technician

Job Overview

Coldkeepers manufactures insulated packaging for temperature-sensitive shipments. We are seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined maintenance technician to help keep our production equipment and facility operating reliably.

The primary responsibility is maintaining and repairing our foot-operated heat sealers. Other duties include small equipment repairs and basic electrical, plumbing, and facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair foot-operated heat sealers.
• Replace worn sealing elements, protective coverings, switches, wiring, and other components as needed.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.
• Respond promptly to equipment problems and coordinate repairs with production supervisors.
• Perform minor plumbing, electrical, and general building repairs within your training and authorization.
• Keep basic maintenance records and maintain an organized supply of commonly used replacement parts.
• Identify recurring problems and suggest practical improvements.
• Follow equipment isolation, lockout/tagout, and other safety procedures. Recognize when a repair requires outside service or a qualified specialist.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance, equipment repair, or a related hands-on trade.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic electrical testing equipment.
• Ability to read instructions, follow maintenance procedures, and learn unfamiliar equipment.
• Good judgment, dependable attendance, and the ability to work independently.
• Clear communication and a willingness to work with the production team.

Experience with heat sealers, packaging equipment, or small production machinery is preferred. Applicants with transferable repair skills are encouraged to apply.

Work Environment

This position involves hands-on work in a manufacturing facility, including standing, walking, bending, and accessing equipment for repairs. Candidates must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
