General Maintenance Worker

Duties

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems, machinery, and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to accurately diagnose problems.
• Operate tools such as welders, hand tools, power tools, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to complete repairs efficiently.
• Conduct welding tasks when necessary to repair or fabricate metal components.
• Supervise maintenance tasks performed by team members or contractors, ensuring safety standards are met.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for compliance and future reference.
• Collaborate with team members to prioritize work orders and coordinate projects effectively.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing internal requests promptly and professionally.
• Lead small teams or projects when required, demonstrating leadership qualities that motivate others toward shared goals.

Experience

• Proven experience in general maintenance or facilities management with a strong background in electrical and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals is essential for accurate troubleshooting.
• Skilled in welding techniques with the ability to fabricate or repair metal structures as needed.
• Electrical experience including working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, and building safety protocols.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience in maintenance roles is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills in English to effectively coordinate with team members and stakeholders.
• Customer service orientation with the ability to handle requests professionally while maintaining safety standards.

Pay: £12.71-£14.00 per hour
