General Maintenance Worker (Facilities Management)

SALARY

The minimum salary is $21.380 per hour
This position is eligible for overtime (non-exempt), if applicable.
Pay Grade 515

This position is eligible to receive hazardous duty supplemental pay at $90/month ($0.52 per hour) upon hire.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this classification is to perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to support the upkeep and functionality of municipal buildings, grounds, and infrastructure as well as assisting certified or licensed workers with their tasks.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Two (2) years of related experience
• Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks including carpentry, painting, drywall finishing, drop ceiling installation, and flooring removal and installation
• Operate scissor lifts, articulating booms, and forklifts
• Skills in concrete and general masonry
• Work from blueprints, diagrams and sketches
• Assists certified and licensed workers with their tasks and collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments to ensure timely completion
• Respond to service requests and perform corrective maintenance to resolve facility and infrastructure issues
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, materials used, and work orders
• Operate fleet vehicles and maintain hand and power tools safely and efficiently
• Able to use computer with knowledge of various software programs
• Performs related work as assigned

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

• Valid driver's license

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned and on emergencies.
• All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
• For positions located within the Division of Community Corrections, must be a United States citizen; must be at least 21 years of age; subject to extended duty hours and a 24-hour call back; subject to shift work holidays and weekend duty; must complete required training for working in a secure environment; must not have been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor; and, subject to an extensive background check and bi-annual tuberculosis testing.
