General Maintenance/Operator

Overview

Join our team as a General Maintenance/Operator and become a vital part of maintaining efficient, safe, and reliable water and wastewater systems. In this dynamic role, you'll operate and maintain essential equipment, perform routine inspections, and support environmental compliance efforts. Your hands-on expertise will ensure the smooth functioning of water treatment facilities, wastewater systems, and industrial equipment, contributing directly to community health and environmental sustainability. Duties

• Operate industrial pumps, water treatment equipment, and heavy machinery safely and efficiently to support water utility distribution and wastewater treatment processes.
• Conduct routine inspections of pumps, valves, tanks, and control systems to identify maintenance needs or potential issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of mechanical components and control systems such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS).
• Collect data related to water quality parameters, system performance metrics, and environmental compliance reports for analysis and reporting purposes.
• Assist with the operation of wastewater treatment processes ensuring adherence to safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) consistently during all tasks to maintain a safe working environment.
• Support heavy lifting tasks and perform basic math calculations required for equipment adjustments or measurements.

Requirements

• Proven experience working with water treatment or wastewater systems; wastewater treatment plant experience is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of industrial pump operation, equipment repair, and maintenance practices in water or wastewater facilities.
• Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and water utility distribution technology.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely while adhering to all safety regulations.
• Strong analysis skills with attention to detail for data collection and troubleshooting issues promptly.
• Mechanical knowledge related to pumps, valves, tanks, and other treatment plant components.
• Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and data analysis related to system performance.
• Commitment to safety procedures including consistent use of PPE and compliance with environmental regulations.
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks regularly in an industrial setting.
