General Manager & Head - Mining Operations

Key Responsibilities

• Overall leadership of mining operations, asset management, safety and productivity.
• Mine planning, scheduling, equipment utilisation, maintenance and logistics.
• Execution of mine development, expansion and exploration projects.
• General management covering HR, finance, administration, security and contractors.
• Government relations, community engagement and statutory compliance.
• Operational reporting, audits, cost optimisation and achievement of production, delivery and margin targets.

Desired Candidate Profile

• 1525 years of relevant experience in mining operations, including senior leadership responsibilities.
• Prior working experience in Africa is essential, preferably West Africa.
• Proven experience in mining operations, project management, asset management and general administration.
• Strong government relations and local community management capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage remote mining sites and multicultural teams.
• Commercial acumen with accountability for operational costs, productivity and profitability.

Educational Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology or a related engineering discipline.
• DGMS First/Second Class Mines Manager's Certificate of Competency or other globally recognised mining certifications will be preferred.
