General Manager – Bulk Haulage

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to lead and grow our bulk haulage operations.

This is a senior leadership role for an accomplished transport professional who understands the demands of bulk haulage, knows how to run a safe and efficient fleet, and can lead people while delivering strong operational and financial results.

You will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the business, working closely with the leadership team, customers and drivers to ensure we deliver a safe, reliable and commercially successful operation.

About the role

As General Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the bulk haulage business, working closely with the leadership team, customers and drivers to ensure a safe, reliable and commercially successful operation.

Key responsibilities

• Providing strategic and operational leadership across the bulk haulage business
• Managing and optimising fleet utilisation, productivity and operating costs
• Leading and developing a team of managers, supervisors, drivers and support staff
• Maintaining strong relationships with key customers and identifying new business opportunities
• Ensuring compliance with Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, safety and transport legislation
• Driving a strong safety culture across the organisation
• Managing budgets, P&L performance, margins and commercial outcomes
• Improving systems, processes and operational efficiency
• Overseeing fleet maintenance, availability and replacement planning
• Managing workforce planning, recruitment, performance and employee engagement

About you

• Significant senior management experience within bulk haulage, transport or logistics
• Strong knowledge of bulk transport operations and fleet management
• Demonstrated experience managing drivers and operational teams
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including P&L responsibility
• A proven ability to improve productivity, utilisation and profitability
• Excellent knowledge of Australian heavy vehicle compliance and Chain of Responsibility requirements
• Strong customer relationship and negotiation skills
• Exceptional leadership and communication abilities
• A hands-on, solutions-focused approach
• A strong commitment to safety and operational excellence
