General Manager

About the role

You'll be responsible for leading the business across operations, commercial performance and people. Working alongside Directors and Finance, you'll provide strategic direction while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day leadership of the business. You'll oversee multiple operational divisions, ensure exceptional client service, identify growth opportunities and continue developing a culture focused on safety, accountability and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the overall operational and commercial performance of CRTS.
• Develop and execute business strategies that support sustainable growth.
• Drive profitability, productivity and operational excellence across all business divisions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients including NZTA, local authorities and key stakeholders.
• Lead contract delivery ensuring quality, safety, programme and financial targets are achieved.
• Mentor and develop an experienced leadership team while building capability throughout the organisation.
• Identify opportunities for innovation, service expansion and continuous improvement.
• Oversee business planning, tendering, budgeting and financial performance.
• Promote a culture where health, safety, quality and environmental responsibility are embedded in everything we do.

About you

• Proven experience in multi-branch or regional operations leadership
• Strong understanding of roading, traffic services, vegetation, or civil contracting
• Commercial acumen with responsibility for P&L, contracts, tendering and growth
• Demonstrated ability to lead field-based, operational teams at scale
• Excellent stakeholder management across clients, contractors, and regulators
• A pragmatic, hands-on leadership style with a focus on delivery
