Ruthin Castle is no ordinary hotel — and we’re looking for no ordinary General Manager.

Set within the historic grounds of one of North Wales’ most iconic castles, Ruthin Castle is a stunning and unique destination with real character, personality and a fantastic team behind it.

We’re looking for an experienced General Manager to join our established team and take the lead in delivering an exceptional experience for our guests, while supporting and developing the people who make Ruthin Castle what it is.

This is a hands-on role.

We’re not looking for someone who wants to manage from behind a desk. We need a visible, energetic and approachable leader who enjoys being in the heart of the operation and is happy to get stuck in wherever needed.

You’ll be involved across all areas of the hotel — from bedrooms and housekeeping to food and beverage, weddings and events, guest experience, standards, maintenance and everything in between.

Most importantly, you’ll become an integral part of an already established team. We want someone who will get to know their people, build on the great work already being done and create an environment where everyone feels supported, valued and proud to work at Ruthin Castle.

What you’ll be doing

• Taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the hotel.
• Being a highly visible presence for both guests and colleagues.
• Leading, motivating and developing our established team.
• Maintaining and continually improving standards across all operational areas.
• Working closely with the Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Events and wider hotel teams.
• Ensuring our guests receive a memorable experience from arrival through to departure.
• Taking a hands-on approach when the operation needs you — no job is beneath you.
• Supporting the delivery of weddings, events and other key business.
• Managing performance, staffing, budgets and commercial targets.
• Identifying opportunities to improve the hotel, its operation and its guest experience.
• Building strong relationships with colleagues, suppliers, guests and the local community.
• Ensuring health & safety, compliance and company standards are consistently maintained.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for an experienced hotel operator who loves hospitality.

You’ll ideally have experience as a Hotel General Manager or a senior operational role within a busy hotel environment. You’ll be commercially aware and understand the importance of delivering strong results, but you’ll also understand that great hotels are ultimately about great people and great guest experiences.
