General Manager / Business Unit Manager – Logistics & Chemical Operations

North Dublin

I’m currently recruiting for a senior operational leadership role with responsibility for a multi-site Dublin operation spanning European Road Freight, Warehousing and Chemical 3PL activities .

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a key position within the senior leadership team, with overall accountability for operational performance, people leadership, customer delivery and financial results across the Dublin business.

Responsibilities:

• Leading all operational activity across a multi-site Dublin operation
• Taking ownership of operational performance, budgets and P&L
• Developing and delivering the operational strategy and business plan
• Driving productivity, service, cost and profitability improvements
• Leading continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives
• Managing and developing experienced teams across operations, transport, HSEQ and customer service
• Ensuring effective collaboration between Operations and Commercial teams
• Supporting the successful implementation of new business and customer requirements
• Managing relationships with customers, network partners and senior stakeholders
• Providing regular reporting and analysis on operational performance, risks and KPIs
• Identifying and delivering opportunities for business growth and operational optimisation

Specific Chemical 3PL / COMAH Responsibility:

A significant element of the operation involves chemical storage, handling and distribution within a highly regulated environment .

• Maintaining compliance with applicable COMAH and chemical safety requirements
• Supporting the Major Accident Prevention Policy and associated safety management systems
• Maintaining high standards across HSEQ, operational risk and regulatory compliance
• Working effectively with relevant regulatory and external stakeholders
• Driving a strong safety culture across the operation
• Ensuring operational processes continually evolve to improve quality, efficiency and compliance

Requirements:

• A degree-level qualification or equivalent industry experience is preferred.
• Experience within a Tier 1 COMAH or similarly highly regulated chemical operation would be highly advantageous.
• Significant senior operational leadership experience within logistics, 3PL, freight, warehousing or supply chain
• Strong experience within a European Road Freight environment
• Experience across warehousing and/or contract logistics operations
• Experience managing large or complex operational teams
• A proven track record of delivering against operational and financial targets
• Strong commercial and P&L understanding
• A results-driven approach with a focus on cost, service, quality and accuracy
• Demonstrable experience delivering continuous improvement and operational excellence
• Excellent people leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to operate strategically while remaining close to day-to-day operational delivery
• Strong understanding of operational KPIs, ERP/WMS systems and best practice within a 3PL environment
