Are you an experienced, hands on hotel leader ready for your next challenge? The Esplanade Hotel is looking for an inspiring and commercially minded General Manager to lead our team.

About the Role

As General Manager, you'll have full ownership of the hotel — leading the senior team across front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, events and maintenance to deliver an exceptional guest experience while driving profitable performance. You'll set the standard from the front: visible on the floor, supporting your team through busy periods, and stepping in across departments whenever the business needs you.

Key responsibilities include:

· Leading, motivating and developing the hotel's heads of department and wider team

· Taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day running and financial performance of the hotel

· Setting and managing budgets and forecasts, and driving occupancy, rate, and food & beverage revenue

· Maintaining the highest standards of guest service, quality, hygiene and presentation

· Ensuring full compliance with health & safety, fire, food safety and licensing requirements

· Recruiting, training, coaching and retaining talented staff, including inductions and performance reviews

· Overseeing weddings, events and functions to ensure they are delivered to company standard

· Managing sales, marketing, online reviews and reputation, and building strong local relationships

· Controlling costs, including payroll, stock and suppliers, and reporting regularly to the owners

What We're Looking For

· Proven experience as a General Manager or Deputy/Assistant General Manager in a full-service hotel, with a track record of leading teams and delivering results

· Strong commercial awareness, with experience of budgeting, forecasting, P&L management and cost control

· Strong knowledge of hotel PMS, POS and other operational systems

· A genuinely hands-on, energetic and flexible approach — comfortable working evenings, weekends and holidays when required

· Excellent leadership, communication and problem solving skills

· A recognised hospitality management qualification, Personal Licence, Food Safety/HACCP and First Aid certifications are advantageous but not essential
