What they need

The Landor is built around a simple idea.

Focus on the essentials and do them properly.

We're creating a hotel designed for modern travellers who value reliability, consistency and a well-considered stay.

No unnecessary extras. No overcomplication. Just the things that matter, done right.

As we prepare to open The Landor Solihull, we're looking for an experienced General Manager to lead the 84-bed hotel from pre-opening through to launch and beyond.

This is a hands-on leadership role with real responsibility from day one.

You'll build the team, establish the operating standards, oversee the hotel, restaurant and café, and help shape what The Landor becomes.

The Role

Opening a hotel is different from running an established one.

We're looking for someone who enjoys building things from the ground up.

Someone who can move between recruitment interviews, supplier meetings, operational planning and service delivery without losing sight of the details.

You'll work closely with stakeholders throughout the pre-opening period and take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the hotel once open.

The role covers:

  • Hotel operations
  • Food and beverage operations
  • Team recruitment and development
  • Commercial performance
  • Guest experience
  • Local business development
  • Compliance and standards

Ultimately, you'll be responsible for ensuring the hotel runs properly, the team performs well, and guests leave confident they've made the right choice.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Opening

  • Lead the hotel's pre-opening programme.
  • Recruit and onboard the opening team from housekeeping, kitchen, restaurant floor team and beyond.
  • Establish operating procedures and service standards.
  • Work with suppliers and partners to prepare the hotel and restaurant for launch.
  • Develop training programmes across all departments.
  • Ensure the hotel is ready to open on time and to standard.

Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the hotel, restaurant and café.
  • Maintain high standards across all guest-facing areas.
  • Manage labour, costs and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.
  • Handle guest issues and feedback where required.
  • Build a culture based on consistency, accountability and good judgement.

Commercial Performance

  • Deliver occupancy, revenue and profitability targets.
  • Build relationships with local businesses and organisations.
  • Support corporate sales and group business development.
  • Monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Report regularly on operational and financial performance.

About You

We're looking for an experienced hotel operator with a strong track record of leading teams and delivering results.

You don't need to fit a particular mould.

What matters is sound judgement, strong leadership and a practical approach to getting things done.

You'll likely have:

  • Experience as a General Manager, Hotel Manager or senior operational leader.
  • A strong understanding of hotel operations.
  • Experience overseeing food and beverage operations.
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial understanding.
  • Experience recruiting, developing and leading teams.
  • The ability to make decisions and take ownership.
  • A calm, professional approach under pressure.
  • Good working knowledge of modern hotel systems and Microsoft 365.

Previous pre-opening experience would be advantageous, but isn't essential.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary.
  • Performance-related bonus.
  • The opportunity to lead a hotel from opening.
  • Direct access to decision-makers.
  • The ability to shape the culture, standards and operation from day one.
  • Future career and training opportunities as The Landor grows.

Built around the essentials, our focus is simple:

  • A proper night's sleep.
  • Clean, consistent environments.
  • Fast, simple service.

Everything you need. Done properly.
