General Manager - Warehousing & Logistics

Location: West Midlands (with flexibility)

Our client is a leading operator within the temperature-controlled warehousing, storage and distribution sector and is entering an exciting phase of growth and investment. As a result, they are seeking an experienced and commercially minded General Manager to play a key role in the development of their operation and future expansion plans.

This is a unique opportunity for a senior operational leader to join a growing business and make a significant impact from day one.

The Role

The successful candidate will initially focus on gaining a deep understanding of the business, its customers and operational model. Early priorities will include leading the onboarding of new customers, driving implementation projects and taking responsibility for the development and launch of a new operational site.

As the business continues to grow, the role will evolve into a broader leadership position with full operational responsibility across warehousing and distribution activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the mobilisation and implementation of new customer contracts.
• Taking ownership of key business projects, including new site development and start-up activities.
• Driving operational excellence across warehousing and logistics functions.
• Building strong relationships with customers and acting as a senior operational point of contact.
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, service and profitability.
• Leading and developing operational teams to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
• Supporting the ongoing growth and strategic development of the business.

Candidate Profile

We are keen to speak with ambitious and hands-on operational leaders who can combine strategic thinking with a strong delivery mindset.

Ideal experience includes:

• Significant leadership experience within warehouse operations and logistics.
• A proven track record of delivering complex projects, implementations or operational change programmes.
• Experience mobilising new contracts, sites or customer solutions.
• Exposure to warehouse automation or technology-led operational environments would be advantageous.
• Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to build credibility at all levels.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to balance service, operational and financial objectives.
• A proactive, pragmatic and "can-do" approach to leadership.
