General Manager

Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager (GM) at our Centereach, New York location. The ideal candidate directs all daily operations, financial performance, staff management, and customer service for a retail location. The ideal candidate will have a strong background retail management, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering top-notch customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Operations and Floor Management

• Oversee opening and closing procedures and maintain a smooth flow of daily store activities.
• Inspect sales floors, storage areas, and equipment for cleanliness and proper function.
• Enforce store safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
• Open flexibility to work long hours (often 50+ hours per week) including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to remain standing or walking for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. if necessary.
• Additional related task/cross-functional support.

Staff Management and Leadership

• Recruit, interview, hire, train, and supervise store employees across all departments.
• Conduct performance reviews, manage scheduling, and review payroll hours to fit labor budgets.
• Mentor team members and promote a positive work environment to reduce turnover

Financial and Business Performance

• Manage the store budget, monitor profit and loss (P&L) statements, and control operational expenses.
• Analyze sales data and track financial records to identify growth opportunities.
• Set and work to exceed sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Inventory and Supply Chain

• Oversee inventory levels, stock rotation, and product ordering to minimize waste and stockouts.
• Coordinate and build relationships with suppliers, vendors, and distributors.
• Manage pricing updates, promotional displays, and merchandising strategies

Customer Service and Compliance

• Address customer inquiries and resolve escalated complaints or disputes.
• Ensure total compliance with local health codes, labor laws, and corporate safety policies

Qualifications

• Retail Management Experience- Three (3) to Five (5) years of supervisory experience specifically within a high—volume grocery, supermarket environment.
• Strong comprehension of Profit and Loss (P&L), labor cost calculations, budgeting, and margin management.
• Proficiency using Point of Sale (POS) systems and inventory tracking tools.
• Inventory Control- Comprehensive understanding of supply chain logistics, vendor negotiation, and shrinkage (theft/waste) reduction strategies.
• Regulatory Compliance- familiarity with local health codes, OSHA guidelines, food and safety standards, and labor laws.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
