General Manager

Definition Gyms is looking for a commercially focused, hands-on Club Manager to lead our Tonbridge gym.

You’ll take ownership of club performance, develop your team and create a welcoming member experience that keeps people coming back. Working closely with the owner, you’ll have the opportunity to influence the business and turn your ideas into results.

With further sites in the pipeline, this is an exciting time to join Definition Gyms.

The role

You’ll lead the day-to-day running of Tonbridge, balancing membership growth and retention with excellent service and consistent operational standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, coaching and developing the team, with clear targets and regular feedback.
• Driving membership sales through effective enquiry handling, follow-up, club tours and conversion.
• Improving retention through strong onboarding, member engagement and proactive service.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation, equipment maintenance and health and safety.
• Monitoring sales, membership movement, revenue and costs, using the results to prioritise action.
• Building local relationships, partnerships and outreach activity to generate enquiries.
• Working closely with the owner and marketing partners to deliver the club’s commercial plans.

About you

You may already be a successful Gym or Club Manager, or an experienced Assistant Manager ready to take the next step.

You’ll bring:

• Experience leading a team in a gym, health club or comparable customer-focused business.
• Evidence of improving sales and business performance.
• Confidence coaching others and holding people accountable.
• An understanding of how member experience and retention support sustainable growth.
• Strong organisation, clear communication and a practical approach to solving problems.
• A willingness to lead from the front, whether reviewing performance, following up a prospect or supporting your team on the gym floor.
• A passion for fitness and helping people feel welcome, supported and motivated.

Multi-site management experience would be advantageous, particularly as Definition Gyms has further sites in the pipeline. This vacancy is for the management of our Tonbridge club.

What’s on offer

• £35,000–£38,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
• Performance-related bonus, with total OTE up to £50,000.
• Ownership of the day-to-day performance of our Tonbridge gym.
• The opportunity to work closely with the owner and influence the club’s development.
