are recruiting a part-time General Manager & H&S Officer

Job Purpose:

Mathew Bray & Matthew Collins Ltd is looking for a part-time General Manager to undertake the organisation and implementation of duties pertaining to;

Health and Safety Practices, Premises Management, Human Resources management, Recruitment and Employment Contracts, Waste Management and Environmental Policy, Maintaining the Company fleet of Vehicles.

General Manager Job Duties:

• Monitoring Health and Safety risks and hazards in the workplace (Somerset and London)
• Maintaining a safe environment with proper lighting, signage, and disability access;
• Advising employees on how to minimise or ultimately avoid risks and hazards in the workplace
• Working with and training all employees to manage, monitor and improve the H&S standards in the workplace
• First aid / nursing duties
• Writing risk assessments and Method statements for general work on site and workshops;
• Writing COSHH
• Ensuring the business is legally compliant with all H&S legislation
• Being responsible for all safety inspections in the workplace (for example, monitoring noise levels in a warehouse)
• Assisting with the creation and management of H&S monitoring systems and policies in the workplace
• Managing emergency procedures (such as fire alarm drills) and organising emergency teams such as fire marshals and first aiders
• Fire Marshal
• Offering general health and safety advice to all employees
• Drafting and updating emergency plans and evacuation procedures;
• Overseeing security, fire prevention, and other safety systems;
• Scheduling regular building maintenance and janitorial services;
• Contracting and coordination professionals for repairs and improvements when and where needed;
• Ensuring that staff are provided with proper utilities and follow H&S company compliance;
• Monitoring building maintenance budgets;
• Overseeing all staff and contractors and inspecting completed jobs;
• Providing training for building employees as needed;
• Evaluating employee performance and providing direction, correction, or additional training to ensure proper maintenance of the company;
• Resolving complaints, problems, and requests from staff;
• Assisting with emergency response and evacuations
• Maintaining records of H&S
• Inspecting the workshops and sites frequently

Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Detail Oriented, Negotiation Skills, Customer Service Experience, Management or Human Resources Experience, Strong Leadership Skills, Maintenance Experience, Understanding of Building Codes and Safety Regulations, Ability to Set and Meet Goals, Results Oriented Behaviour, Building Trade Certification, Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or Real Estate, On-the-Job Experience, Strong Written and Oral Communication Skills,

Pay: £16.00-£18.00 per hour
