General Manager

About the Role

Construction Execs is seeking a General Manager for our client, an established residential and commercial overhead-door service and installation business in Huntsville. This is an opportunity for a hands-on leader to take responsibility for an entire location—its people, operations, financial performance, and customer experience. With an experienced team already in place, you’ll guide the business through an ownership transition, preserve what works, and introduce improvements that support continued growth.

Responsibilities

• Reporting directly to the Owner, you’ll lead residential and commercial department managers, administrative staff, and the field technicians they support.
• You’ll have local operational responsibility backed by centralized accounting, sales, and corporate resources.
• Your work will connect daily execution with business performance: managing the P&L, understanding job costs, improving productivity, and ensuring service and installation work is completed safely, efficiently, and profitably.
• People leadership is central to this role.
• You’ll coach managers, establish clear expectations, address problems, and help employees develop.
• You’ll also work alongside the team when needed, whether that means resolving a customer concern, supporting the warehouse, or helping a department work through a scheduling challenge.
• During the transition, you’ll capture the departing owner’s knowledge and relationships, strengthen operating processes, and help the team adopt a new ERP platform.
• The company uses EOS to support meeting discipline, clear accountability, and execution.

Qualifications

• A relevant bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Required Skills

• We’re seeking a leader with at least 10 years of progressive management experience, including managing other managers and responsibility for a P&L or substantial departmental budget.
• You should be comfortable interpreting financial statements, leading service and installation teams, developing employees, and using technology to improve operations.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in overhead doors is preferred.
• Leaders from related field-service businesses, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other home or building services, are encouraged to apply.
• EOS, ERP implementation, and acquisition integration experience are valuable.

Pay range and compensation package

• The position offers a $150,000 base salary, with target total annual compensation of approximately $175,000, including a performance bonus tied to year-over-year net profit growth.
