General Manager (Construction)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the overall engineering, construction and project operations, ensuring activities are delivered in line with approved scope, schedule, quality, budget and company objectives.
• Develop project plans, targets and execution strategies; monitor project progress, profitability, risks and performance, and take corrective action when required.
• Lead and coordinate engineering, project management, procurement, construction, commercial and support teams to ensure smooth project execution and timely completion.
• Provide management direction on engineering and technical matters, including designs, drawings, specifications, technical submissions and project documentation.
• Review major technical issues and ensure engineering solutions comply with project requirements, applicable standards and client specifications.
• Support business development, tendering and commercial activities, including project feasibility, negotiations, variations, claims and other commercial matters.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and business partners, and represent the Company in key meetings and negotiations.
• Oversee the selection and performance of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with contractual, quality, safety, cost and schedule requirements.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, contractual, safety, environmental and quality requirements, including proper risk management and corrective actions.
• Lead, motivate and develop engineering and project teams by setting clear responsibilities, targets and performance expectations.
• Provide regular management reports on project progress, financial performance, risks, safety, quality and operational matters.
• Drive productivity improvement, operational efficiency and business growth, including the adoption of improved engineering and construction practices.
• Ensure proper project handover, completion documentation and close-out.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in engineering, construction, project management or related industries, including at least 5 years in a managerial or senior management role.
• Proven experience managing engineering and/or construction projects from planning through completion.
• Strong experience leading multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Strong knowledge of construction and engineering project execution, commercial management and regulatory requirements.
• Professional qualifications or relevant technical certifications will be an advantage.
