What they need

GENERAL MANAGER
WASHINGTON, DC
THE BEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD.
THE BEST-ISH BAGELS IN THE WORLD.
OUTTA THIS WORLD OPPORTUNITY.

DEEPER THAN BAGELS

Call Your Mother is the Jew-ish deli where Boca meets Brooklyn, grandma-level hospitality meets seriously good bagel sandwiches, and hard work meets face-melting vibes.

Husband-and-wife team Andrew and Chef Dani built Call Your Mother around a simple idea: make scrumptious, nostalgic food and unforgettable experiences without being bougie or taking ourselves too seriously. From our first little farmer’s market stand in 2018, to shops across the DMV, Colorado, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Miami in 2026, we’re spreading carb love all over the map and our ovens are just getting warmed up! We’ll take bagels to mars if the locals are hungry up there.

WE’RE HIRING A GENERAL MANAGER, BASED IN MIAMI!

At CYM we consider our GMs to be the CEO of their shop. The General Manager oversees kitchen operations, front-of-house service, the continued development and growth of your team, and the overall profitability of your shop. The GM is always guest-, food-, and team-focused while being a quick thinker front-of-house lover, a skilled communicator, and a motivator. As a GM, you’ll be an enthusiastic leader for your team, lead by example, and hold yourself and all team members accountable for their performance and product output through our CYM Values (“VIBES”).

If you’re picking up what we’re laying down, keep reading!

YOU'LL CRUSH THIS ROLE IF YOU...

  • Have 1–2 years of restaurant management experience and understand what it takes to run a smooth, successful shop.
  • Have a strong understanding of P&L management, COGS, labor, scheduling, process improvement, training, team development, and food quality standards.
  • Hold a current ServSafe Manager Food Safety Certification and know restaurant safety and sanitation standards like the back of your hand.
  • Are highly organized and can confidently balance food costs, labor goals, team needs, and daily operations without losing sight of the details.
  • Believe memorable hospitality starts with genuinely caring about every guest’s experience.
  • Lead by example with a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mentality and are always ready to jump in alongside your team.
  • Take initiative, anticipate challenges, and can move comfortably between solving what’s in front of you and thinking about the bigger picture.
  • Bring positive, can-do energy and thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are exactly the same.
  • Have developed strong, diverse teams through clear communication, thoughtful coaching, trust, and accountability.
  • Stay calm under pressure and approach challenges with a solutions-first mindset.
  • Treat others with kindness and respect and believe the best teams succeed by supporting one another.
  • Sweat the details because you know the little things make a big difference for your team and your guests.
  • Can work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Are bilingual and proficient in both English and Spanish.
  • Are digging our BIG V.I.B.E.S. (Vibrancy, Integrity, Belonging, Energy, and Seize the Moment).

Shall we proceed? If you blurted out an audible “YES INDEED!” then please keep reading.

WHAT YOU’LL REALLY BE DOING

  • Own the day-to-day operations of your shop—from opening preparation and service execution through closing—ensuring every shift meets CYM’s highest standards.
  • Proactively solve problems, remove obstacles, and identify opportunities to make the shop more efficient, organized, and successful.
  • Lead supervisors and team members in delivering exceptional hospitality and bringing CYM’s BIG V.I.B.E.S. to life for every guest.
  • Partner closely with supervisors to build a positive, high-performing work environment rooted in teamwork, communication, and accountability.
  • Establish and uphold operational standards by ensuring checklists, recipe specifications, and other CYM systems are followed consistently.
  • Protect the condition and appearance of the shop by overseeing equipment maintenance, trash pickups, linens, deep cleaning, and storage organization.
  • Champion food and workplace safety, ensuring ServSafe requirements and CYM safety standards are followed every day.
  • Own food and beverage management—including inventory, ordering, and budgeting—while driving progress toward food, beverage, and labor goals.
  • Build and develop a strong team through thoughtful recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Create schedules that position every shift for success, ensuring the shop has the right people in the right places at the right times.
  • Step in when callouts, emergencies, or unexpected challenges arise, making thoughtful decisions in the best interest of the shop, team, and guests.
  • Roll up your sleeves. You’ll work in the shop five days a week, including weekends, because the best leaders stay close to the team and the guest experience.
  • Move comfortably between CYM locations throughout the DMV, with reliable transportation that allows you to support the business wherever you’re needed.

AND FINALLY, IF YOU NEED MORE REASONS TO APPLY:

  • Competitive salary $70,000, plus quarterly bonus opportunity.
