What they need
About us
The College supports GPs and rural hospital doctors throughout their professional lives. We're now strengthening that support, sharpening the learning and member experience, and using AI thoughtfully to improve how we work and what we offer.
We are recruiting two senior leaders, for two new roles with a shared purpose: General Manager, Delivery and General Manager, Design.
About the role: General Manager, Design
The General Manager, Design will be the steward of the College’s centre of expertise for academic quality, clinical rigour, curriculum, assessment and standards.
This is not a role for someone who equates quality with more rules. It is for an educational leader who knows that clear, evidence-informed and defensible standards create trust, strengthen learning and help move an organisation from good to great.
What this role needs
High integrity. Energy. Curiosity. Sound judgement. A generous approach to leadership. The ability to lead beyond their own portfolio, work across boundaries and contribute actively to the strategy, performance and collective leadership of the College. A practical commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity and cultural safety, including responsiveness to Māori, Pacific and rural communities.
We want builders rather than caretakers. People who can respect what is already strong, challenge what can be better and help create an AI-enabled College ready for the future.
Most of all, we are looking for people with a bias for action.
What you will bring
We are looking for someone who can:
- Bring academic and clinical rigour to curriculum, assessment and programme design
- Set standards that are clear, well structured, well articulated and workable in practice
- Protect quality while improving the learning experience for registrars, GPs and educators
- Help us respond intelligently to the opportunities and challenges AI creates for education and assessment
- Treat Te Tiriti o Waitangi, cultural safety and equity as integral to academic quality, curriculum, assessment and standards.
Our commitment to equity and diversity
Ki te hunga e āta whakaaro ana ki te tuku i te pukapuka tono mō te tūranga nei. He Kāreti tēnei e kaingākau ana ki te reo me ngā tikanga Māori. Mehemea e manawanui ana koe ki te āwhina i te Kāreti ki te whakatutuki i te mana hauora taurite, tēnā koa tukua mai to tono.
We want our College team to reflect the diversity of Aotearoa New Zealand and the communities that our people serve and work in. We acknowledge the impacts of inequitable health systems and care on Māori as tangata whenua, and on other groups, and are addressing these as part of our strategic direction.
Applicants with additional skills in te reo and tikanga Māori and experience in working in Māori contexts are most welcome.
The College seeks to attract staff with diverse backgrounds, experiences, skills, and perspectives, and welcome, value and respect their contributions to our work and workplace.
Benefits
