Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced General Manager – DRI Mechanical (Projects) who has strong hands-on experience in DRI/Sponge Iron plant project execution, particularly in setting up and commissioning 350 TPD rotary kiln-based DRI plants.

The candidate will be responsible for managing the complete mechanical project lifecycle, from engineering and equipment selection to erection, commissioning, trial runs and successful plant stabilization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the complete mechanical execution of a 350 TPD DRI kiln project from project planning to commissioning.
• Manage project activities related to DRI rotary kiln, cooler, conveyors, crushers, screens, fans, gearboxes, pumps, hydraulic systems and material handling equipment.
• Review mechanical design, equipment specifications, GA drawings, equipment layouts and vendor drawings.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, equipment suppliers and internal project teams.
• Plan and supervise equipment erection, structural work, alignment, installation and commissioning.
• Ensure proper installation and alignment of:
• Rotary Kiln
• Kiln Drive & Gearbox
• Cooler
• Cooler Discharge System
• Feed System
• Conveyors
• Crushers
• Screens
• Fans & Blowers
• Hydraulic Systems
• Pumps
• Material Handling Systems
• Monitor project progress against time, cost, quality and safety targets.
• Coordinate with Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, Process and Operations teams for integrated project execution.
• Identify and resolve mechanical design, erection and commissioning issues.
• Ensure proper equipment inspection, testing, alignment and pre-commissioning checks.
• Lead cold commissioning, hot commissioning, trial production and performance stabilization.
• Monitor kiln performance during commissioning and ensure smooth transition to the Operations team.
• Review vendor performance and ensure timely delivery and installation of critical equipment.
• Prepare project schedules, progress reports, equipment status reports and commissioning plans.
• Manage project manpower, contractors and site resources.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and statutory requirements during project execution.
• Conduct RCA and corrective actions for mechanical/project-related issues.
• Support optimization of equipment reliability, maintenance requirements and operating efficiency after commissioning.

Required Experience

• 15–20 years of overall experience in Steel / Sponge Iron / DRI industry.
• Strong experience in DRI plant mechanical projects.
• Must have independently handled or significantly contributed to DRI kiln project setup/execution.
• Experience with 350 TPD or similar-capacity rotary kiln is highly preferred.
• Candidates with experience in greenfield/brownfield DRI projects will be preferred.
• Should have strong experience in erection, commissioning and troubleshooting of DRI mechanical equipment.

Educational Qualification

B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institute.

Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹150,000.00 per month
