This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for end-to-end Customs, Import/Export and trade compliance. The individual will own the function across regulatory strategy, customs clearance, duty optimisation, trade schemes, compliance, external stakeholder management and process governance.
The ideal candidate will have 13+ years of experience, with strong depth in Customs regulations and preferably significant experience in solar manufacturing or large-scale manufacturing / infrastructure businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Customs & Regulatory Leadership
- Lead end-to-end Customs and EXIM operations for ZetSol's manufacturing facilities.
- Own Customs compliance, classification, valuation, documentation and clearance processes.
- Manage Customs audits, investigations, notices, assessments and personal hearings.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Customs authorities, DGFT, ports, SEZ authorities, CHAs and other regulatory stakeholders.
- Drive duty optimisation and ensure compliance with applicable Customs regulations and notifications.
Import & Export Operations
- Own end-to-end import and export processes for raw materials, components, machinery and finished goods.
- Ensure timely and compliant customs clearance across ports and ICDs.
- Oversee documentation, Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills, bonds, licences and other statutory filings.
- Partner with Procurement, Manufacturing, Finance, Legal and Supply Chain to ensure uninterrupted material flow.
Trade Schemes & Compliance
- Lead implementation and compliance of MOOWR, IGCR, EPCG, Advance Authorisation, AEO, SVB and other applicable schemes.
- Drive HSN classification, customs valuation, FTA / Rules of Origin and duty-benefit optimisation.
- Manage duty drawback, RoDTEP, export incentives and applicable refund processes.
- Ensure compliance with FEMA, EDPMS, IDPMS, eBRC and banking-related trade requirements.
- Own audit readiness and closure of regulatory observations.
Function Building
- Build the Customs & EXIM organisation, processes and governance framework from the ground up.
- Establish SOPs, controls, dashboards and compliance mechanisms for a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Develop and manage the CHA / freight forwarder / Customs service-provider ecosystem.
- Drive automation and digitisation of Customs and EXIM processes.
- Build a strong internal Customs knowledge base and ensure continuous regulatory updates.
International Trade
- Support ZetSol's growing international business, with significant focus on US exports and global trade compliance.
- Work closely with international customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders on cross-border trade requirements.
- Ensure the organisation remains compliant with evolving international trade and customs requirements.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 15+ years of relevant experience in Customs, EXIM and Trade Compliance.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Indian Customs regulations and clearance processes.
- Demonstrated experience with MOOWR, IGCR, EPCG, AEO, SVB, HSN classification and Customs valuation.
- Strong experience managing Customs authorities, DGFT, CHAs, ports and other regulatory stakeholders.
- Experience in solar manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- Candidates from large-scale core manufacturing / infrastructure / engineering / energy businesses will also be strongly considered.
- Experience handling large-scale manufacturing imports, particularly capital equipment and raw materials, is preferred.
- Strong understanding of duty optimisation, export incentives and applicable stamp-duty / duty-related compliance.
