General Manager Finance

Our client is a leading New Zealand business operating in the logistics and supply chain sector, with a significant national footprint and a strong reputation for innovation, technology and operational excellence.

As the organisation continues to grow and evolve, it is seeking a General Manager Finance to provide strategic and operational financial leadership across the business. This is a pivotal executive appointment, offering the opportunity to influence commercial strategy, operational performance, investment decisions and future growth within a complex, technology-focused organisation.

About the Role
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Australian business, the GM Finance will have overall responsibility for the financial management of the New Zealand business, leading a capable finance team and ensuring robust financial governance, reporting and commercial insight.

This is far more than a traditional financial control role. You will be a key member of the executive team, providing commercially focused advice and using financial and operational data to influence business decisions, identify opportunities and improve profitability. Key areas of responsibility will include:

• Providing strategic financial leadership across the organisation and contributing to overall business strategy.
• Leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and performance analysis.
• Providing meaningful commercial insight into operational performance and profitability.
• Partnering with operational and commercial leaders to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and financial performance.
• Leading and developing the finance team.
• Supporting capital investment decisions across plant, projects and technology.
• Providing financial input into new business opportunities, acquisitions and strategic initiatives.
• Identifying opportunities to leverage technology, systems and data to improve financial and operational outcomes.
• Contributing to the organisation's health, safety, environmental and quality objectives as a member of the senior leadership team.

The Opportunity

You will be expected to be solutions focussed, bring a strong understanding of business performance and translate financial information into clear, actionable insights for the executive team.

About You
We are seeking an experienced senior finance professional who combines strong technical capability with commercial acumen, leadership maturity and a genuine interest in the wider business. You will ideally bring:

• A relevant tertiary qualification and CA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• 10+ years' post-qualification experience, ideally gained within a complex, national, multi-site operational or commercially driven environment.
• Proven experience operating at a senior finance leadership level.
• Strong commercial and strategic capability, with the ability to look beyond the numbers.
• Demonstrated experience partnering with senior operational and commercial stakeholders.
• An interest in technology, systems and using data to improve business performance.
• The confidence and credibility to influence an executive leadership team and constructively challenge decision-making.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to lead a team and work effectively with stakeholders across all levels of an organisation.
