General Manager (MNC)

About the role

Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the Malaysian manufacturing operations. Take full ownership of business performance, including P&L, budgeting, cost control, profitability and operational targets. Oversee the full spectrum of plant functions, including Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, HR and Facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with regional and group business objectives
• Drive improvements in productivity, quality, delivery, cost efficiency and customer satisfaction
• Lead capacity planning, capital expenditure, resource allocation and plant expansion initiatives
• Establish clear KPIs and ensure department heads deliver against agreed business and operational targets
• Strengthen manufacturing processes through Lean, continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives
• Ensure products and operations comply with customer requirements, quality standards, safety regulations and company policies
• Build strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, government authorities and regional stakeholders
• Develop the senior leadership team, strengthen succession planning and build a high-performance culture
• Identify operational and commercial risks and implement appropriate mitigation and business continuity measures
• Report business performance, key challenges and strategic recommendations to regional and group management

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business Administration or a related discipline
• At least 15 years of experience in manufacturing, including a minimum of five years in a senior leadership or plant management position
• Proven experience managing end-to-end manufacturing operations within an MNC environment
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, with hands-on experience managing P&L, budgets and cost improvement initiatives
• Strong knowledge of production, engineering, quality, supply chain and workforce management
• Demonstrated success in improving productivity, quality, delivery performance and operational profitability
• Experienced in Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement and operational excellence methodologies
• Strong leadership, decision-making, stakeholder management and problem-solving capabilities
• Able to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership
• Strong command of written and spoken English; additional language capabilities are an advantage
