General Manager — Operations, Systems & AI Enablement

Polikov Recruitment Solutions is conducting a confidential search for a General Manager to lead and scale a technology-driven InsurTech.

This opportunity combines hands-on business operations, process improvement, automation, team leadership and full P&L responsibility. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will build the systems and operating discipline that enable the business to grow efficiently.

The initial focus is California homeowners insurance with plans to expand into additional products and states. Insurance experience is helpful; demonstrated success improving complex operations and delivering technology-enabled solutions is essential.

The opportunity

You will own how the agency performs and how it operates—from revenue, contribution margin, budget and headcount to the workflows and systems supporting quoting, sales and service.

Business is coming in. The priority is creating an operation that handles increasing volume accurately and efficiently, using automation and AI to reduce repetitive work and improve team capacity. A combination of management consulting and subsequent startup operating experience is particularly attractive.

What you will do

• Own the P&L and report performance against plan to the CEO.
• Lead existing sales and operations staff, establish expectations, and coach performance.
• Diagnose and resolve data quality problems, quoting errors and CRM workflow issues.
• Improve carrier onboarding, integrations, referral intake and operational handoffs.
• Automate repetitive processes involving renewals, endorsements, documents and customer service.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to scope and deliver improvements based on business needs.
• Build (with help from engineering/technology professionals) reliable dashboards covering conversion, cycle time, productivity, service quality and financial performance.
• Reconcile production and financial data across systems.
• Establish repeatable processes that support expansion while maintaining compliant operations.

What makes you a strong fit

• Approximately 7 or more years of relevant experience in business operations, product operations, consulting or general management with meaningful implementation responsibility.
• A record of personally fixing broken processes and delivering measurable improvements.
• Experience leading teams and owning financial or operating results.
• Strong analytical skills and comfort working directly in CRM systems, reporting tools and operational data.
• Experience implementing automation or technology-enabled workflows.
• Ability to translate operational problems into clear requirements for technical teams.
• Initiative, sound judgment, and comfort working through ambiguity in an early-stage business.

Candidates must be based in Northern California. East Bay proximity is preferred; hybrid arrangements depend on location and business needs.
