Full-Time Leadership Position

Liberal Country Club is seeking an experienced, motivated, and service-oriented General Manager / Golf Professional to lead the overall operations of our private country club.

This is a hands-on leadership position for an individual who understands that a successful country club is built around exceptional member service, strong financial management, quality golf operations, excellent food and beverage experiences, and a welcoming club culture.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The General Manager / Golf Professional will oversee the day-to-day operations of Liberal Country Club while providing leadership to the golf operation, clubhouse, food and beverage department, and club staff.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Board of Directors and Club Committees to execute the Club’s goals, maintain high operating standards, manage financial performance, and continually enhance the member and guest experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Club Leadership & Administration

• Provide leadership and direction for all Club operations
• Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and develop Club employees
• Establish and maintain high standards for professionalism and member service
• Work closely with the Board of Directors and Club Committees
• Implement Club policies, procedures, and operational standards
• Maintain a visible and approachable presence with members, guests, and staff
• Assist with membership retention, recruitment, and member engagement initiatives
• Coordinate Club events, tournaments, leagues, social activities, and special functions

Golf Operations

• Oversee daily golf operations and the overall golf experience
• Manage the golf shop, merchandise, inventory, and point-of-sale operations
• Coordinate and administer tournaments, leagues, outings, and Club golf events
• Provide golf instruction and player development opportunities
• Promote participation in Club golf programs and activities
• Maintain strong communication with members regarding golf events and course activities
• Coordinate with golf course maintenance staff to provide an excellent member experience

Food & Beverage / Clubhouse Operations

• Provide leadership and oversight of dining, bar, and clubhouse operations
• Work with culinary and service staff to maintain consistent quality and service standards
• Monitor food and beverage labor, inventory, purchasing, and operating costs
• Support the development of dining features, special events, and member programming
• Ensure the clubhouse is maintained to a clean, professional, and welcoming standard

Financial Management

• Assist in preparing and managing the Club’s annual operating budget
• Monitor revenues, expenses, payroll, inventory, and departmental performance
• Review financial results and identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency
• Maintain appropriate internal controls and accountability procedures
• Provide regular operational and financial reporting to the Board of Directors

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous management experience in a private club, golf facility, hospitality operation, or related environment
• Golf professional experience and a strong understanding of golf operations
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Experience managing employees and developing effective teams
• Working knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, inventory control, and cost management
• A strong commitment to exceptional member and guest service
• Ability to effectively manage multiple departments and priorities
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, tournaments, and special events as required
• PGA membership or progress toward PGA membership is preferred

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for a leader who is visible, engaged, organized, accountable, and member-focused. The successful candidate should be comfortable moving between the golf shop, clubhouse, dining operation, member events, staff management, and administrative responsibilities.

This position is best suited for someone who enjoys being actively involved in Club operations and building relationships with members rather than managing solely from an office.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Liberal Country Club offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Specific salary, incentive opportunities, benefits, and additional PGA/Golf Professional compensation will be discussed with qualified candidates.
