General Operative

Bandon Co-op are looking for a General Operator to join their team.

Work as part of the Production Team in the factory to pack butter and undertake all duties as directed by the supervisor. Play a key role in production, cleaning, Health & Safety and all other tasks as directed by management. Fulfill production targets on a daily and weekly basis. General Operators will work in all areas of the factory.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work across all areas of the factory performing a wide variety of tasks, such as line operation, packing, building pallets, factory cleaning etc. to meet production targets.
• Comply with all safety policies and procedures and safe work practices. Manual handling is mandatory, and all employees must use correct lifting techniques.
• Maintain a safe working environment, report any health & safety incidents, good catches or concerns immediately to the Production Supervisor.
• Work as part of the team to set up the line, complete checks and ensure materials are suitable and ready to use. Perform all prestart, hygiene and safety checks as directed.
• Follow all Bandon Co-op GMP’s / SOPS and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality and hygiene requirements.
• Documenting all required information in a timely manner consistent with our Quality Control systems in line with BRC, traceability, customer and HACCP requirements.
• Lift weights of up to 25 kgs, stand for 3+ hours and be able to move around the factory floor without assistance.
• Report all breakages, damages, or defaults of equipment to the production supervisor. Use machinery only when it is safe. Record checks as and when directed.
• Participate fully in lean manufacturing processes and embrace new methods of working, supporting the continual improvement of practices and processes to ensure excellent food hygiene and housekeeping in all production facilities.
• Work as part of team and display strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Undertake any other reasonable assignments and as may be required by the Production manager or Business Unit Manager.
• As the needs of Bandon Coop change, the responsibilities, tasks, and location of the role within Bandon Coop will be adjusted accordingly.

Skills and Experience required:

• Prior food production experience handling product in a BRC accredited site is desirable but not essential.
• Experience of operating and troubleshooting machinery used in food production would be advantageous.
• Experience in inspecting product, packaging and labels, reporting defects and ensuring compliance with customers needs. Strong attention to detail and communication skills would assist this.
• Basic IT skills for logging production data, tracking inventory or other administrative tasks.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Knowledge and awareness of hygiene standards to maintain clean work areas.
• Ability to work as part of a team, collectively problem solve and drive performance of the shift.
• Holding a ticket and experience of operating Forklifts would be beneficial

Pay: From €14.15 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 – 48.0 per week
