EPSWI – Eastern Province Sports and Wellness Institute is a multi-disciplinary group of medical practices. At the heart, we are a health and wellness center that brings together professionals such as General Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Biokineticists, Clinical Psychologists, Sports Physicians, Medical Aestheticians, and Dietitians.

The institute is dedicated to providing integrated, evidence-based care that supports physical, mental and emotional well-being. Clients benefit from coordinated services that address both general health needs and specialized wellness concerns. Team members collaborate across disciplines to develop personalized care plans and deliver high-quality, patient-centered services.

Role Description:

This is a full-time, on-site General Practitioner role based in Port Elizabeth. EPSWI currently operates at three sites and you will be expected to service all of these sites.

The General Practitioner will provide primary care services, including comprehensive patient assessments, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up for acute and chronic conditions. Daily responsibilities include conducting physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications and managing referrals. The role involves maintaining accurate medical records, contributing to multidisciplinary case discussions and supporting preventive health initiatives, including lifestyle counseling and wellness screenings. The General Practitioner will also participate in patient education, collaborate with the broader clinical team to optimize care pathways and uphold all clinical governance, ethical, and regulatory standards. It is also our expactation that the incumbent be willing to learn the ethos of the clinical care provided by EPSWI, this may include specific training.

Qualifications

• Current medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) and valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
• Proven experience in primary care, family medicine or general practice
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic and treatment-planning skills across a broad range of acute and chronic conditions.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, biokineticists, psychologists and other health professionals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, explain medical information clearly, and provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
• Commitment to preventive medicine, lifestyle counseling and holistic approaches to health and wellness.
• Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a busy patient schedule and maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation.
• Competence in using electronic medical records and basic digital tools for documentation, referrals, and communication.
• Willingness to participate in continuous professional development and stay current with evidence-based guidelines and best practices
