A General Practitioner (GP) is a primary care physician who provides continuous, comprehensive healthcare to patients of all ages. GPs serve as the first point of contact in the health system, treating acute illnesses, managing chronic diseases, and promoting overall wellness.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnosis & Treatment: Conduct patient consultations, examine physical conditions, order diagnostic tests, and prescribe treatment plans or medications.
• Chronic Disease Management: Monitor long-term health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma.
• Preventive Care: Perform routine health checks, administer vaccinations, and counsel patients on lifestyle habits.
• Referrals & Coordination: Refer patients to medical specialists and hospital care when specialized treatment is required.
• Medical Records: Maintain accurate Electronic Health Records (EHR) for all patient interactions.

Requirements

• Education: Primary Medical Degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent).
• Licensure: Valid license to practice medicine from the local regulatory authority.
• Skills: Strong clinical diagnostics, empathetic communication, decision-making, and teamwork.
