Your future duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Define the architecture and technical direction of generative AI and agentic solutions, considering clients’ business needs, environmental constraints, and security, reliability and cost requirements.
• Assess use cases and select the appropriate approach: deterministic processing, conventional software development, an LLM call, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or agent orchestration.
• Design reference architectures encompassing models, data, knowledge bases, tools, APIs and orchestration, including integration with enterprise systems.
• Define identity, authentication and authorization mechanisms for users and agents, including data access permissions, service identities and tool connections, notably through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• Establish security standards and guardrails: sensitive-information protection, secrets management, restrictions on agent actions, human approvals and traceability.
• Define solution evaluation and acceptance criteria: response quality, reliability of actions, resistance to misuse, performance and cost control.
• Design operational requirements: observability, logging, incident management, service continuity, and usage and cost monitoring.
• Oversee proofs of concept and production-readiness decisions; turn successful experiments into reusable architectures, components and patterns.
• Guide development and DevSecOps teams, conduct architecture reviews and verify compliance with standards and approved design decisions.
• Document decisions and trade-offs, present recommendations to stakeholders, and contribute to solution governance alongside enterprise architecture, data, security and compliance teams.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Required qualifications

• At least 8 years of experience designing and developing solutions, including at least 3 years in architecture, with hands-on experience in generative or agentic AI solutions.
• Strong application architecture, integration, data and security skills, as well as solution design experience on at least one major cloud platform.
• Hands-on experience with LLM-based architectures, RAG, tool calling and agent orchestration; ability to determine their suitability for a given need.
• Good understanding of data ingestion, indexing and retrieval mechanisms, and related quality, privacy and access-control considerations.
• Proficiency in identity, authentication, authorization, network segmentation and protection of communications among applications, agents and services.
• Ability to define verifiable security, evaluation, observability, resilience and cost-control requirements.
• Software development experience and ability to review code, APIs and integrations across different technology environments.
• Ability to analyze and explain trade-offs among quality, complexity, delivery timelines, performance, costs and vendor dependency.
• Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitate architecture decisions and support delivery teams.
• Bilingual in French and English.

Assets

• Experience deploying and scaling GenAI or agentic solutions in a large organization.
• Experience designing shared platforms, reusable components or governance mechanisms for multiple teams.
• Experience with agent integration protocols, particularly MCP, and mechanisms for controlled delegation of access and actions.
• Certification in cloud architecture, enterprise architecture, AI or security.
• Experience delivering solutions in regulated environments or environments with stringent privacy and data sovereignty requirements.

Compensation and position status
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. This estimate takes into account several factors, including skill set, geographic market, experience, training, and professional licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions are based on the qualifications and specific circumstances of each candidate.
The current estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 to $175,000 per year.
