Generator/AVR Commissioning Engineer

Due to strong growth, we are currently recruiting for a Generator/AVR Commissioning Engineer who will focus on high profile power generation projects within the US.

Position Overview

The primary focus of the Generator / AVR Commissioning Engineer will be to provide field-based commissioning, testing and troubleshooting support for generator packages driven by both aeroderivative and frame gas turbines.

The candidate will have strong hands-on experience with generator excitation systems and AVRs, together with a good understanding of generator protection, controls and associated electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Commissioning and testing of generator packages in the field.
• AVR commissioning, configuration, tuning and troubleshooting.
• Carrying out generator electrical testing and functional checks.
• Troubleshooting generator, excitation and control system faults.
• Supporting generator start-up, synchronisation and load testing.
• Working with client, OEM and site teams to resolve technical issues.
• Producing commissioning documentation, test reports and punch-list items.
• Providing technical support during fault-finding and operational issues.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience in generator commissioning and field service
• Experience performing generator pre-commissioning and electrical testing
• Experience with AVR systems (Basler DECS-250N, BRUSH 132/A3100, ABB UNITROL series, GE EX2100e etc)
• Experience in using AVR software for configuration, testing, fault-finding and adjustment of settings.
• Experience with generator projection systems (highly advantageous)
• Ability to produce accurate commissioning reports and test documentation
• Strong understanding of electrical safety and safe work practices
• Comfortable working independently within the field
• Willingness to travel extensively to customer and power generation sites
