Geologist Engineer

About the role

Responsible for soil investigation (SI), geotechnical investigation and ground condition assessment for large-scale reclamation and soil improvement projects.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise various soil investigation works
• Supervise SI contractors and ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved method statements, specifications, ITP and project requirements
• Review and interpret borehole logs, CPT/CPTu data, vane shear results and laboratory test results
• Assist in developing and updating geotechnical/soil profiles and ground models
• Coordinate and supervise installation of geotechnical instrumentation
• Establish baseline readings and coordinate regular instrumentation monitoring and interpretation
• Monitor ground response during different stages of reclamation, filling, surcharge and consolidation
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly SI/geotechnical monitoring reports
• Maintain proper records of boreholes, CPT/CPTu, VST, instrumentation and monitoring results
• Ensure all geotechnical and SI activities comply with Singapore project requirements, safety requirements and relevant standards

About you

• Degree/Diploma in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction projects
• Strong practical experience in soil investigation and geotechnical monitoring
• Ability to interpret and analyse CPT/CPTu, borehole, vane shear and laboratory test results
• Good understanding of soil settlement, consolidation, pore pressure and lateral ground movement
• Experience in preparing geotechnical monitoring and SI reports
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Able to work independently and supervise SI/instrumentation subcontractors
