Geotechnical Engineer (Part-Time)

Role Overview:

Are you an experienced engineering professional capable of leading complex site investigations, providing high-level technical direction, and mentoring engineering teams? We are seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to serve as a technical anchor for our projects and guide our OPUS Fiji geotechnical operations.

In this role, you will handle a broad, dynamic range of responsibilities—from planning comprehensive field investigations and analyzing subsurface data to drafting Geotechnical Interpretative Reports (GIR) and providing specialist design advice. What You’ll Be Doing

• Site Investigation & Field Direction: Coordinate with the OPUS Fiji geotechnical team to plan and deliver site investigations, providing technical direction on borehole locations, in-situ testing, sampling, and lab testing programs.
• Data Analysis & Technical Reporting: Review field records, borehole logs, and lab results to assess subsurface conditions and geotechnical risks, and prepare comprehensive Geotechnical Interpretative Reports (GIR) with design parameters and recommendations.
• Design Integration & Advisory: Liaise with project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure geotechnical findings are incorporated into designs, providing specialist advice throughout planning and technical reviews.
• Quality Assurance & Mentorship: Perform technical quality assurance and peer reviews of all deliverables prior to client submission while mentoring the local OPUS Fiji team to drive consistency and knowledge transfer.

What You’ll Need

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
• Certifications: Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ/RPEV), or equivalent professional registration preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in interpreting geological and geotechnical data, establishing engineering design parameters, and executing field/laboratory testing protocols.
• Core Competencies: Strong technical review abilities, exceptional communication skills for cross-functional collaboration, and proven capabilities in team guidance and mentorship.
