Get Set for Work Trainer

Are you a passionate Trainer who enjoys helping young people build their confidence, develop practical skills and take positive steps towards their future?

STEPS is seeking an engaging and supportive Trainer to deliver our Get Set for Work program in Bundaberg on a specific period full-time basis, up to 11/02/2027, with a scheduled break over the Christmas/New Year period.

Get Set for Work supports young Queenslanders aged 15–24 who have left school or are experiencing difficulties with school attendance. The program combines nationally accredited training with practical, individualised support to help participants develop the skills, confidence and workplace behaviours they need to move towards employment or further education and training.

Participants work towards FSK20119 Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways, developing skills across communication, numeracy, digital technology, workplace learning, problem solving and working effectively with others

You will:

• Deliver engaging, learner-focused training and assessment
• Adapt delivery to individual learning needs and abilities
• Build rapport and support young people to remain engaged
• Create a positive, inclusive learning environment
• Maintain accurate training, assessment and compliance records
• Work collaboratively to achieve positive participant outcomes

About You:

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and adjust your style to suit different learners
• Comfortable adjusting plans, resources, and approaches as participant needs evolve
• Empathetic understanding that every participant brings their own story, strengths, and challenges
• Resilient and calm under pressure
• Relationship-building skills that allow you to connect with participants, colleagues, and community partners
• Possess a flexible, learner-centred training style that supports disadvantaged and culturally diverse participants

What You Bring:

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122/TAE40116/TAE40110) or equivalent (e.g. Degree or higher in Adult Education)
• TAESSS00026 Foundation Skills Integration Skill Set or TAESS00009 Address Foundation Skills in Vocational Practice Skill Set (or willingness to obtain)
• A current Working with Children card (blue card) or Registration to Work with Vulnerable People
• Evidence of ongoing right to work in Australia
• Ability to return an acceptable National Police Check
• A flexible, engaging and learner-centred approach
• Experience supporting young people or learners experiencing barriers to education or employment will be highly regarded
