Roles and Responsibilities:

Role Purpose

The Glass Technologist will be responsible for monitoring and optimizing glass manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality, improving furnace and forming performance, reducing defects, and supporting continuous process improvements. The role requires strong expertise in glass chemistry, melting, forming, annealing, and quality control to achieve operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and control glass composition, batch formulation, and raw material quality to ensure consistent product performance.
• Analyze and optimize furnace operations, melting efficiency, fuel consumption, and glass quality parameters.
• Provide technical support for forming operations to improve productivity, weight control, dimensional accuracy, and defect reduction.
• Investigate glass defects and quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor hot-end and cold-end processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
• Evaluate production data, process trends, and quality metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
• Coordinate with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to enhance plant performance and product quality.
• Support new product development activities, including trials, process validation, and commercialization.
• Ensure compliance with quality management systems, safety standards, environmental regulations, and operational procedures.
• Lead technical studies related to furnace performance, refractory behavior, cullet utilization, and process optimization.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, technical reports, and process documentation.
• Provide technical training and guidance to production and quality teams on glass manufacturing best practices.
