Global Sourcing & Procurement Specialist

Key Responsibilities

• Search for products, manufacturers, and suppliers through major international sourcing platforms, including Alibaba, Global Sources, Made-in-China, 1688, IndiaMART, and other relevant industry platforms.
• Identify actual manufacturers and factories whenever possible, rather than relying only on trading companies or intermediaries.
• Research multiple suppliers for each product and prepare clear comparisons based on price, quality, specifications, MOQ, production capability, lead time, certifications, and reliability.
• Work with management to understand the required product and develop detailed specifications, including materials, dimensions, performance requirements, packaging, labeling, finishes, tolerances, and other technical requirements.
• Prepare and send RFQs (Requests for Quotation) to qualified manufacturers.
• Communicate directly with factories and suppliers to clarify technical requirements and ensure that quotations match the requested specifications.
• Negotiate factory pricing, MOQs, payment terms, production lead times, tooling costs, packaging costs, warranties, and other commercial terms.
• Request, coordinate, and evaluate product samples before production orders are approved.
• Verify supplier credentials, manufacturing capabilities, certifications, export experience, production capacity, and quality-control systems.
• Compare EXW, FOB, and other relevant pricing and assist in evaluating the total landed cost rather than simply selecting the lowest factory price.
• Coordinate with suppliers throughout product development and production to ensure specifications, quality requirements, and delivery schedules are followed.
• Work with quality-control companies or inspectors when necessary to arrange factory audits, pre-production inspections, during-production inspections, and final pre-shipment inspections.
• Identify quality issues and negotiate corrective actions with manufacturers.
• Develop and maintain strong long-term relationships with reliable factories and suppliers.
• Maintain an organized supplier database containing quotations, specifications, samples, certifications, contacts, pricing history, production information, and supplier performance.
• Identify alternative suppliers and backup factories to reduce sourcing and supply-chain risks.
• Attend international trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events when required.
• Travel internationally to visit factories, inspect manufacturing capabilities, negotiate with suppliers, and develop new supplier relationships when necessary.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in international product sourcing, procurement, purchasing, or supply-chain management.
• Strong experience sourcing products from China, India, and/or other major manufacturing markets.
• Hands-on experience with sourcing platforms such as Alibaba, Global Sources, Made-in-China, 1688, IndiaMART, or similar platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and evaluate manufacturers rather than simply finding online product listings.
• Strong negotiation skills with experience negotiating pricing, MOQ, payment terms, lead times, and other commercial conditions.
• Ability to understand product specifications and communicate detailed requirements clearly to manufacturers.
• Experience comparing suppliers based on total value—including quality, price, reliability, production capability, and lead time—not simply selecting the cheapest supplier.
• Understanding of international trade terms and Incoterms such as EXW, FOB, CIF, and DDP.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple sourcing projects simultaneously, and provide clear progress reports.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience conducting or coordinating factory audits and quality-control inspections.
• Experience with product development and custom manufacturing.
• Understanding of international freight, customs, duties, tariffs, and landed-cost calculations.
• Experience working directly with freight forwarders.
• Mandarin, Hindi, or other relevant language skills are an advantage but not mandatory.
• Existing relationships with manufacturers or sourcing networks in China, India, or other major manufacturing countries are a plus.

We expect the Sourcing Specialist to investigate the market, identify qualified factories, understand the product, compare suppliers, negotiate effectively, verify information, and present management with well-researched sourcing options.

The objective is to consistently find the best combination of quality, price, reliability, manufacturing capability, and long-term supplier value.
