GPON / XGS-PON Test Engineer

About the role

Test and validate GPON/XGS-PON OLT and ONT/ONU products. Configure OLT/ONT and validate subscriber services. Work with multi-vendor OLT/ONT equipment and validate interoperability.

Key responsibilities

• Create and execute test plans, test cases, functional, regression, interoperability and performance tests
• Test VLAN, DHCP, PPPoE, NAT, IGMP, QoS, TCP/UDP, IPv4/IPv6 and other L2/L3 protocols
• Validate PON features such as GEM, T-CONT, GEM ports, bandwidth profiles and QoS
• Perform throughput, latency, packet-loss and traffic-performance testing
• Troubleshoot failures using Wireshark, traffic generators and network test equipment
• Perform optical testing using Optical Power Meter and OTDR where the role includes physical-fiber validation
• Analyze defects, reproduce issues and work with development teams for root-cause verification
• Develop test automation using Python/TCL/Perl where required

About you

• Strong understanding of GPON, XGS-PON, OLT, ONU/ONT and FTTH
• Good knowledge of Ethernet and L2/L3 networking
• Hands-on experience with VLAN, DHCP, PPPoE, NAT, IGMP, QoS, ARP, ICMP, DNS and IPv6
• Knowledge of OMCI and ONT provisioning
• Wireshark and traffic-generator experience
• Linux basics
• Python/TCL/Perl scripting is an advantage or requirement depending on the position
• Good debugging and test-case development skills
