Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Grading Grade Checker & Operator to join our construction team. This vital role combines precise grading supervision with hands-on operation of heavy machinery, ensuring that construction projects meet exact specifications and safety standards. As a key contributor, you will oversee grading quality, operate essential equipment, and support the smooth progression of construction activities on-site. Your expertise will help deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality results for our projects.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections of grading work to verify accuracy against project plans and specifications
• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, Dozer, and water trucks to perform grading, excavation, and utility work
• Maintain and perform routine safety checks on construction machinery in accordance with federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures
• Assist with construction utility locating to ensure underground utilities are identified and protected during excavation activities
• Support construction site operations by performing equipment maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical issues promptly
• Follow all safety regulations to maintain a secure work environment for yourself and team members
• Collaborate with supervisors to ensure project milestones are met efficiently while adhering to quality standards

Skills

• Proven experience in construction grading, utility work, and heavy equipment operation
• Strong knowledge of construction machinery maintenance and mechanical systems
• Ability to operate excavators, loaders, backhoes, and water trucks safely and effectively
• Familiarity with federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures
• Skilled in construction site experience including excavation, utility locating, and utility utility work
• Excellent understanding of construction safety regulations and heavy equipment operation standards
• Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot basic machinery issues quickly
• Ability to perform precise grading checks as a grade checker using relevant tools and techniques
• Construction experience emphasizing safety regulations, utility work, and site management
• Understand elevations, civil drawings & Topcon GPS
