Te Pūtea Matua 's Graduate Programme is where you'll join a whānau | family of committed people who make key judgements affecting the ōhanga | economy to improve the lives of all those who call Aotearoa home. Everything we do enables people, communities and businesses to thrive, today and tomorrow.

From day one, you and your mahi | work will matter. You won't get lost here because we are small enough to be whānau, yet you'll be part of one of the world's most trusted and respected Central Banks.

As a Graduate in our Data and Information Directorate in the Operations Group, you might be involved in: delivering official statistics on the economy and financial system; supporting our systems, methods and analytical tools for internal users; and delivering data collections to support the RBNZ's core mandates.

We're looking for graduates who are curious, strategic, and passionate about opportunities to improve how we operate. You'll enjoy diving into complex information, spotting patterns, uncovering potential issues, and bringing insights to life. No two days will look the same, the work is varied, impactful, and central to delivering meaningful outcomes across RBNZ.

We have openings across our offices in Wellington. From your first day, you will have the opportunity to be a part of the teams within our Operations Group to get the best start and the broadest experience, because you matter. At Te Pūtea Matua you become the heart of our Programme as we work to create and support a career pathway especially for you. Think of it as the ultimate springboard to a hugely satisfying and important future, enabling the economic wellbeing and prosperity for all New Zealanders as a kaitiaki | guardians of New Zealand's financial ecosystem.

We cheer differences and new perspectives. Diversity seeds our best mahi | work and helps us to innovate and grow. We welcome and value knowledge of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti and Tikanga Māori and building diversity and inclusion into everything we do.

Ko koe tēnei? | Is this you?

  • By early 2027 you'll have your tertiary study wrapping up and are ready to apply your economics, mathematics, statistics, data science, or other relevant study into real mahi.
  • You graduated within the past two years obtaining your highest qualification by February 2027.
  • You attained a B+ or higher-grade average from previous 12 months study.
