Armadale, Flexible work options available
Your engineering degree is just the start. Let’s build the rest together.
If you’re a graduate engineer who’s curious about how real engineering decisions are made, motivated to create meaningful community impact, and eager to learn from experienced leaders, this is the role that can shape your career.
At the City of Armadale, we’re one of Western Australia’s fastest-growing local governments. As our community grows, so does the challenge of keeping our roads, parks, buildings and assets safe, functional and sustainable.
Join our Technical Services – Program Delivery team, where you’ll learn by doing, tackle real-world engineering challenges, and contribute to programs that matter to your community.
About the Role
This is a development-focused graduate role, designed to give you hands-on experience, strong mentoring and exposure to a broad range of program delivery and asset management activities.
Working alongside the Head of Program Delivery and experienced team of Project Managers and Project Engineers, you’ll help shape the way Armadale maintains its civil infrastructure and community assets. You’ll see first-hand how technical expertise, data and innovative thinking come together to make a real difference in people’s daily lives.
You’ll be involved in:
- Supporting program delivery across civil infrastructure and property assets
- Analysing data and preparing reports to support evidence-based decisions
- Providing technical advice and recommendations under the guidance of senior staff
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across program delivery
- Collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and community stakeholders
- Learning how local government balances safety, sustainability, governance and community expectations
This role is designed to grow with you, offering structured mentoring, hands-on experience and increasing responsibility as your capability develops over time.
About You
We’re looking for a graduate engineer who is curious, driven, and community-minded - someone who wants to make a positive impact both in their career and in the lives of local residents.
You’re someone who:
- Is curious, analytical and comfortable asking questions
- Takes a solution-focused approach to problem solving
- Cares about community outcomes and public value
- Communicates clearly and can explain technical information in practical ways
- Brings a positive attitude, ambition, and a willingness to learn
You’ll also have:
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A current C-Class Driver’s Licence
- An interest in developing skills across asset management, program delivery, governance and project support
We also value community involvement.
Experience through volunteering, student projects, sports clubs, or other community activities is highly regarded — we want people who care about making Armadale a better place.
- Strong mentoring and guidance from experienced leaders
- Hands-on experience across real projects and operational decision-making
- Flexible working arrangements, including 9-day fortnights or 19-day months
- Free membership to the Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre
- Superannuation matching (up to 15%)
- Study assistance to support your professional development
- A values-led culture where people care, learn, and grow together
