What they need

If you’re ready to launch a meaningful career in Fire Safety in the Built Environment , applications are now open for recent and upcoming Graduates to join our Autumn 2027 Evolve graduate programme at our Manchester office.

Apply online now and be ready for virtual assessments and in-person interviews shortly after. Successful candidates will have an offer on the table prior to Christmas 2026 or early 2027 for a start in the Autumn.

What's the role? Ridge is a Built Environment Consultancy. This is all about the human-made spaces and structures that support how and where we live, work and play. It’s everything from individual buildings to entire cities and the infrastructure that connects them. If you’re fired up by the thought of an impactful and rewarding career shaping that environment, working in expert teams and getting down to the nitty gritty of our clients’ challenges, then read on!

Our two-year Evolve graduate programme develops and supports the next generation of Built Environment professionals. As a Graduate Fire Engineer at Ridge, you will gain valuable hands-on experience while contributing to prestigious projects across a wide range of sectors. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will support the development of fire strategies throughout the entire building lifecycle, from the design stage through to occupation and ongoing building safety management. This role offers the opportunity to build your technical knowledge of fire engineering principles, legislation and regulations, while collaborating closely with clients, design teams and other key stakeholders.

You will assist with preparing fire strategy reports, analysing fire risks and recommending appropriate control measures to help clients meet statutory requirements, including the Building Safety Act 2022, Building Regulations and Fire Safety legislation. The role will also involve site visits, gathering information, preparing specifications and schedules of work, monitoring project progress and supporting Building Regulations applications on fire-related matters. Throughout your graduate journey, you will develop a practical and methodical approach to problem-solving, learning how to deliver high-quality solutions within budget and to challenging deadlines while addressing a variety of complex fire safety challenges.
