Job Summary

The Psychology Department is seeking a motivated and dependable Graduate Student Assistant to support the Psychology Clinic. This position offers hands-on experience in tasks associated with the day to day running of a Psychology Clinic.

Essential Job Functions

What you will Do – Position Responsibilities

• Answer phones and take messages
• Answer client questions about the Psychology Clinic
• Help schedule client appointments
• Assist with intake procedures for new clients
• Help maintain cleanliness and organization of Clinic waiting area
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Psychology Clinic Director
• Help psychology clinic with various tasks

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a current Lamar University graduate student in the Psychology Department
• Availability to work 2–5 days per week, 3–4 hours per shift
• Ability to adhere to confidentiality and departmental dress code policies
• Strong work ethic; dependable, professional, and motivated

Preferred Qualifications

• Enrollment in the Clinical Track of the Masters in Applied Psychology Program at LU
• Interest in pursuing a career in psychological therapy
• Strong interpersonal skills to create a welcoming environment for clients

Supplemental Information

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
• Ability to sit for extended periods

Job Conditions

• Involves collaboration with other graduate students, clients, and the Psychology Clinic Director
