What they need

About the Organization:

The MassHire-North Shore Workforce Board (MHNSWB) as established by federal and state legislation is a business-led not-for-profit organization which engages members from business, education, labor, and community-based agencies to set public policies that will build a better labor market for the region. MHNSWB members are appointed by the Mayor of the City of Salem, MA, who as the lead authority appointed by the Governor of Massachusetts provides the pivotal link between the MHNSWB, the City of Salem, and 18 other North Shore municipalities in MA. The City of Salem also acts as the fiscal agent for the MHNSWB. The MHNSWB plans, coordinates, and oversees the growth and effective use of public and private investments to provide quality jobs through workforce development initiatives.

Position Summary:

The Grant Manager supports MassHire-North Shore Workforce Board programming including grant applications and grant writing, grant management, program support, partner communication, and general workforce development activities. Responsibilities include coordinating and implementing training programs and related activities funded through grants to the Board with services such as pre-employment training leading to employment, incumbent worker training, career exposure and exploration, job development and placement, retention, and other related services. Depending on the funding stream work may involve close collaboration with partner workforce boards in the region along with career centers, technical schools, community colleges, state universities, community-based organizations, companies, and unions.

The Grant Manager must respond to the requirements of funding sources and the various protocols of program partners to ensure work is accomplished and grant goals are met. Additional related funding opportunities may arise and would fall under the jurisdiction of this role.
