Job Description: Graphic Designer
Employment Arrangements:
- Full-time contract / 7:30-16:30
- Vacation as per administrative staff
- Requires some evening and weekend commitments
Reports to: Head of Marketing and Branding
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Graphic Designer whose first love is photography. A person who can then take the footage and photos into Adobe and turn it into a reel, a spread, a billboard or a prospectus page.
You will play a key role in producing output for your campus. Roughly half of this role is behind a camera and in front of people; the other half is at a desk, producing. You will be embedded in school life: in classrooms, on the sports field, at concerts, on residential trips and at admissions events.
Academic & Professional Qualifications
- A degree in graphic design, photography, visual communication or a related field
- Minimum 4 years' professional experience, with a portfolio that leads with photography and video, not only layout
- Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud: Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, InDesign and Illustrator (After Effects an advantage)
- Confident with camera and lighting equipment, including in difficult conditions such as dark auditoriums, bright outdoor sport and cramped classrooms
- A solid grasp of branding fundamentals: identity systems, tone, consistency, hierarchy, and why they matter commercially
- Curious about the market and the wider creative landscape, with a Contributes ideas and creative suggestions to part of a team rather than waiting for briefs
- Comfortable proposing work that breaks the pattern, and able to explain the thinking behind it
- Excellent interpersonal skills in English and Thai. Well presented and comfortable holding a conversation with a Head of School, a parent, a five-year-old and a teenager in the same afternoon
- Genuinely enjoys being around children and can work with them patiently and appropriately
- Able to plan and prioritise your own workload across multiple concurrent projects and deadlines without close supervision
- High attention to detail, and the habit of checking your own work thoroughly before it reaches anyone else
- Creative thinking and a strong sense of visual storytelling
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, with time off in lieu
Key Responsibilities:
Photography and video
- Support the development and maintenance of photographic record: events, performances, athletics fixtures, classroom learning and residential trips, producing a consistent, publication-quality library
- Shoot and edit short-form video for social channels, plus longer-form pieces such as division and programme films, student and staff interviews, and campaign assets
- Work confidently with participants such as principals, teachers, students and parents, including setting up interviews, briefing speakers and putting nervous subjects at ease
- Plan shoots against the content calendar rather than reacting to the events list: identify what we need, book it, and get it
- Edit and colour-grade to a consistent house standard in Lightroom and Premiere Pro
- Deliver event photography quickly. Selected galleries are expected within days of an event, not weeks
Design and brand
- Produce print and digital production: prospectus and brochure layouts, advertising, yearbook, exhibition and campus signage, banners, billboards and social graphics
- Act as a guardian of the KIS brand. Apply the identity consistently across every channel and sub-brand, extend the system where it needs extending, and know the difference between the two
- Respond creatively to briefs, developing visual approaches in collaboration with the Marketing and Branding team
- Prepare key visuals, presentations and materials for academic staff and school events
- Maintain the photo and video library: cataloguing, keywording, file naming, archiving and permissions, so anyone can find an asset in minutes
- Brief and quality-check external suppliers (printers, videographers, photographers) when projects require them
Ideas and market awareness
- Watch what's happening across other schools, other sectors, platform trends and visual culture in Thailand and beyond, and bring back what's worth stealing
- Propose formats and creative ideas we haven't asked for, and be willing to test something that might not work
- Contribute to campaign thinking early, not only at production stage
Community and representation
- Work directly with teachers, principals and support staff to plan coverage and gain access to lessons and activities
- Represent the school at exhibitions, fairs and promotional events
- Follow child protection and image consent requirements at all times, including checking permissions before publication
- Support and participate in school events outside regular school hours, including evenings and weekend
Others
- Support and participate in all major school events, within and outside of regular school hours
- Work to maintain effective partnerships with the community, promoting and representing the school at local level
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Marketing and Branding
- Please note that the post holder may be required to work outside of normal school-working hours for school events, meetings or completing time sensitive operations
Why this role is different
You will not be producing stock-looking school marketing. Our photography needs to show real learning, real personality and real energy, the kind of images that make a parent stop scrolling. You'll have creative input and scope to contribute ideas, real equipment, and a school full of subjects.
KISRP International School is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment in which our students can feel secure in all of their experiences within the school community. All members of the community should at all times show respect and understanding for an individual’s rights, safety, and welfare, and understand that all play a role in the safeguarding of our students, conducting themselves in a way that follows the law and reflects the ethos and values of the school.
KISRP uses the comprehensive international standards developed by the International Taskforce for Child Protection as this provides a framework for the implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures. Our school's child safeguarding policy and supporting policies and procedures are written in support of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and aim to follow procedures stated by the Thai Ministry of Education, Thai Employment Law, and the Thai Child Protection Policy.
